England is only twelve days away

Here we go...
This is the very beginning of our effort to keep in touch with family and friends while we are metal detecting the English dirt in Essex near Colchester. Hopefully I will be able to figure out how to connect this netbook computer to the internet in the house where we are staying. I have been told it's easy, once you locate the right cable. I guess we will all find out together.

The suitcases are coming out of the attic tomorrow. We have a club outing in Portland tomorrow morning. After that, the detectors get cleaned up and we will start packing. We have talked about this trip everyday for the last 11 months. I'm sure most of you will be glad we are finally leaving the country.

I hope you will check back periodically to see how we are doing. We will be gone March 12-21 and will be detecting everyday from the 14th through the 20th. March 20th is our 22nd wedding anniversary and we couldn't think of a better way to spend it that detecting in the English countryside together. Yeah, we know...people think we are nuts!
